Thamwar’s father died when he was three years old. In Manipur, the clan system is somewhat stronger and Thamwar Dilbung invariably was housed with one or another relative apart from his mother who was not earning and could not provide her children with either proper food or clothing. Thamwar came to us from a different state with a different language and cultural set-up - the Home was just a place where he would get his meals, his shelter and clothes on his body.

Therefore, Thamwar was more disoriented than the others. He couldn’t communicate with the other children except for Darshel who came to the Home with him, the food was different, there was not another face that he knew and so the two boys were initially more closed in than the others.

Like the rest of the children, Thamwar too was malnourished and sickly and wouldn’t eat well. It was a difficult time rehabilitating Thamwar. But children are children and Thamwar gradually began to respond to his new situation. He is now healthier and happier. He has developed a friendly attitude and is able to play with other children. He enjoys the home.

We were even able to get him admitted to a local school where he has quickly responded to his new world of learning. He seems to have a keen mind and because he is still not fully acquainted with the Nepali language, we notice that he has a sharper sense of observation than the others. He especially enjoys learning new games – football seems to be in his blood, and he is happiest when he is on the field.

Jermina Lepcha: This is a little girl name, Jermina from Buddhist background and she was just a little girl when her father’s passed, she was longing for love but this has been fulfilled through our Grace Children Homes. She was born on 22 Dec. 2005. Love she received from her friends has enabled her to forget her father. She was brought to our Homes by one of her neighbor who had been helping her for foods in her village. Jermina’s mother is sickly and can’t support. This girl is really amazing as she found the real joy as soon as she became the member of our children’s home family. Yet, it is struggle for her as she is just a little baby who needs the care of a mother, who should also feed her with the milk.

Loving to play with the dolls has been her hobby and singing along with dancing is her desire. She is studying in Jubilee High School in a kinder garden.
